Portland Ranks Among Top 10 Cities Nationwide for Outdoor Recreation

portland

Thanks to a new report by Commercial Search, we know that Portland recently ranked among the top 10 cities nationwide for outdoor recreation.

This is good news for the PDX area because it shows that people are still relocating to the Portland area despite the changes that the city has seen since Covid-19.

Portland is an ideal city for outdoor enthusiasts because when you live here, you’re close to the mountains, hiking/biking trails, skiing or snowboarding, standup paddle boarding and so much more.

Portland OR – A Top City for Outdoor Recreation

Besides being so close to everything, when you live in Portland, you’re also an hour and a half drive from Seaside, and the Oregon Coast, or you can conveniently cross the state line into Washington and explore everything that it has to offer.

Although Portland had a great ranking in the Commercial Search study, the reality is that the city that beat the PDX area was Washington DC which has the most options for urban outdoor enthusiasts.

The city offers no shortage of fresh air entertainment options. Notably, the nation’s capital was the highest-scoring city in the Trust for Public Land’s Park Score index, with 98% of its residents living within reach of a park and as much as 24% of the city’s surface being green spaces.

In addition to great walkability and comparatively good urban air quality, Washington, D.C. also incorporates more than 100 trails within its urban park system. That amounts to about 25 miles of trails for every 10,000 residents — the highest share on the list — on top of great air quality and walkability.
