Oregon Tenants Have Until February 2022 To Pay Back Rent

The eviction moratorium must end permanently and late rent must be repaid.
Thanks to recent legislative actions, we know that tenants have until February 28th, 2022 to repay rent that they owe from April 2020 through June 2021, the months that most tenants in Oregon were not able to pay rent due to COVID-19.
To aid tenants in Oregon, Governor Brown and the State of Oregon have ruled that (back) rent during COVID-19 must be kept secret and not reported to the credit bureaus.
Sadly, even though tenants are facing a deadline on back, rent, the big question is will they be able to pay that late rent? Or will the State try to extend this deadline like the eviction moratoriums have been extended?
Back Rent Cannot Be Counted Against Tenants On Future Rental Applications
Sensing the disaster that backs rent could pose for hundreds of thousands of renters in Oregon, the State of Oregon also ruled that back-rent cannot be counted against tenants on future rental applications as well.
Landlords cannot charge fees for unpaid rent from April 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021, and cannot report past due rent from this time to a consumer credit reporting agency. A tenant’s unpaid rent or eviction from April 1, 2020 – March 1, 2022, cannot count against them in future rental applications.
